Mallik Sundharam currently serves as the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs at the Illinois Institute of Technology (Illinois Tech). An accomplished higher education leader with over 20 years of experience in enrollment management, student affairs, and global education, Sundharam joined the university in 2022 and has been instrumental in driving a 27 percent increase in overall student enrollment, resulting in the highest enrollment numbers in over 30 years, with significant growth in applications and first-year admissions. Under his leadership, Illinois Tech has garnered recognition for its commitment to accessibility, diversity, and economic mobility, particularly for first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented student populations.

At Illinois Tech, Sundharam oversees various departments, including undergraduate, graduate, and pre-college enrollment management, university marketing and communications, student affairs, student services, and international affairs. He leads a global team dedicated to enhancing the student experience, from recruitment to graduation. His leadership has helped elevate the university's overall standing, national and global rankings.

Before joining Illinois Tech, Sundharam held leadership positions at Northeastern University, ELS Educational Services and Saint Joseph鈥檚 university. As Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management at Northeastern, he spearheaded enrollment growth across multiple international campuses and played a key role in establishing the university as a leader in global education with the largest international student population in the United States. At ELS Educational Services, he provided strategic guidance to over 650 universities worldwide, focusing on global marketing and recruitment.

Sundharam holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree in commerce, an MBA in general management and finance, and a master鈥檚 degree in organizational dynamics and leadership, all of which underpin his extensive experience and commitment to advancing higher education nationally and globally.

The collaboration sets a new standard in global education, focusing on student exchange, joint research, and an innovative engineering-focused joint degree in Data Science and AI uniquely tailored for lifelong learners commencing in Fall 2024.
