Research Interests

Dr. Matthew Gombeda is actively involved in both experimental and computational structural engineering research and oversees the structural and materials testing laboratory in Alumni Memorial Hall. His major research areas include:

  1. Behavior and mechanics of reinforced and prestressed concrete structures
  2. Innovative precast/prestressed concrete components
  3. Innovative cementitious materials
  4. Experimental testing of concrete materials and structural systems
  5. Blast design and analysis methodologies
     

Professional Affiliations & Memberships

Dr. Gombeda is an active member of both the American Concrete Institute (ACI) and the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI), serving on numerous technical committees focusing on concrete materials and structures including: ACI 318-0D (Structural Members), ACI/PCI 319 (Precast Structural Concrete Code), ACI 370 (Blast and Impact Load Effects), ACI 377 (Performance-Based Structural Integrity & Resilience of Concrete Structures), Blast Resistance & Structural Integrity (PCI), Design Standard (PCI), Precast Insulated Wall Panels (PCI), and the Research & Development Council (PCI).
