Stuart School of Business Dean Rich Klein previously served as vice chancellor of institutional effectiveness and student success at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He led campus Academic Advising, Career Services, Enrollment Management, Financial Support and Scholarships, Institutional Research, New Students and Family Programs, Student Employment, Systems Intelligence and Data Analytics, as well as the University Registrar. Klein held dual faculty appointments in the College of Business as well as the College of Information Systems and Technology.
Klein also served as associate dean of the R. Kirk Landon Undergraduate School of Business at Florida International University鈥檚 College of Business and interim director of the college鈥檚 School of Accounting. He led a school that enrolled more than 8,000 undergraduate students, the sixth-largest undergraduate enrollment among all Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accredited institutions. Klein held the rank of full professor in the Department of Information Systems and Business Analytics, where he had served as chair.
Klein鈥檚 research examines health care information systems and informatics, electronic business initiatives, and inter-organizational information systems. He has published work in top journals, including Decision Sciences, the European Journal of Information Systems, Information and Management, the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association, the Journal of Management Information Systems, MIS Quarterly, and the Journal of Operations Management. Klein also served as an associate editor for the European Journal of Information Systems and the International Conference on Information Systems. Klein also co-chaired health care-related tracks at the Americas Conference on Information Systems and the European Conference on Information Systems.
Klein holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration with a concentration in computer information systems from Georgia State University鈥檚 J. Mack Robinson College of Business. He also earned a Master of Science in Technology Management from Mercer University鈥檚 Stetson-Hatcher School of Business. Klein also earned both a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Economics through an accelerated dual degree program at Boston University. Klein has also completed the Institute for Education Management as well as the Management and Education Leadership programs at Harvard University鈥檚 Graduate School of Education.
Klein served on the executive board of The Salvation Army Western Division and the executive board of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. As a member of the faculty of the College of Business at Clemson University, he served for more than five years as the graduate programs director, overseeing the Department of Management鈥檚 master鈥檚 and doctoral degree programs. Klein also possesses more than a decade of industry experience with automatic data processing and the First Data Corporation, as well as consulting experience with Fiserv, General Electric HealthCare Systems, Sage Health Management Solutions, United Parcel Service, and the United States Army. He received a commission through the U.S. Army Reserve Office Training Corps, completed initial entry rotary wing flight training, and served for a decade as an aviation officer and pilot in the Army National Guard.
