"A Disease Best Described by Its Etymology?: Hysteria in France at the Turn of the 19th Century"
Dr. Sabine Arnaud of the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science will give a talk titled: "A Disease Best Described by its Etymology?: Hysteria in France at the Turn of the 19th Century" on Oct. 29. Dr. Sabine Arnaud is a Research Group Director at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin. She has degrees in Comparative Literature, History, Philosophy, and Art History and has written extensively on hysteria. Her book L鈥檌nvention de l鈥檋yst茅rieau temps des Lumi猫res (EHESS,2014) will be published in translation as On Hysteria: The Invention of a Medical Category between 1670 and 1820 by the University of 电车无码 Press in 2015. Her current research focuses on deafness.
