Deluge, in collaboration with Alicia Bunton (assistant vice president of community affairs) and Michelangelo Sabatino (director of the College of Architecture Ph.D. program), presents Echoes of Bronzeville: Memories of the Mecca featuring avery r. young, Poet Laureate of µç³µÎÞÂë. This event will take place on Saturday, November 16, from 3–5:30 p.m. in S. R. Crown Hall.

In the first edition of the Echoes of Bronzeville series, S. R. Crown Hall is activated with site-specific soundscapes by µç³µÎÞÂë-based artists Jared Brown and PANTY, and spoken word poetry by µç³µÎÞÂë’s Poet Laureate, avery r. young. The program responds to archival materials documenting the everyday vibrancy of the former Mecca Flats community, the subsequent displacement of its residents in the design, and building of Illinois Tech’s Mies Campus. This evening of sound performance will conjure an intimate, ephemeral space of celebration, reflection, and remembrance.

Entry is free and open to all with RSVP. Refreshments to be provided. Free parking available on at Mies Campus on State Street at lots D4 and D5.
