All Nine Undergraduate Programs Achieve ABET Reaccreditation

IIT Armour College of Engineering is pleased to announce that all nine Bachelor of Science programs have achieved reaccreditation through 2021. ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc.) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that is an internationally recognized accreditor of college and university programs, specializing in the disciplines of applied science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology.

Achieving ABET accreditation is the culmination of a rigorous five-year process of assessment, evaluation, improvement and growth to meet ABET鈥檚 high standards. ABET criteria is developed by technical professionals from ABET鈥檚 member societies, and focus on what students experience and learn. ABET accreditation reviews look at program curricula, faculty, facilities, and institutional support. Reviews are conducted by teams of highly skilled professionals from industry, academia, and government, with expertise in the ABET disciplines.

Several institutional strengths were cited in ABET鈥檚 reaccreditation report including IIT鈥檚 Interprofessional Projects (IPRO) program that offers students a broad range of multidisciplinary learning experiences that are conducive to creativity, the Academic Resource Center (ARC) which offers programs to support student success, and the renovation of the Engineering 1 building that provides an enhanced environment for interaction and collaboration among engineering students.

Armour College currently enrolls 1,579 undergraduate and 1,106 graduate students. The at Armour offer at the Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate levels in all engineering disciplines.
