Announcing Six New Interdisciplinary Professional Master's Programs

Armour College of Engineering has recently announced new Professional Master鈥檚 Programs that are available starting Fall 2017. These programs allow professionals to enhance their knowledge in a specific area and learn new skills to further their careers. Learn more about each degree below.

Students who thrive on solving complex equations and are energized by delving into computer simulations and mathematical algorithms would be a good fit for the Master of Computational Engineering program. This new and growing multidisciplinary field offers career possibilities ranging from calculating the trajectory of satellites to designing aircraft to simulating molecular mechanics. Students will learn computational methodologies, tools, analysis, processing, and modeling capabilities that are central to succeeding in this dynamic engineering field.

The Master of Engineering Management program allows new engineering graduates to explore the possibilities offered by advancing technology through strategic business practices. Seasoned employees who are looking to add a second skillset to their engineering portfolio would also do well in this degree program. It features two specialty tracks鈥攑roject management or product design and development. Both will give students an accelerated pathway to management positions within engineering-based industries.

With its reputation as having the first microgrid energy-distribution system of its kind in the country, Illinois Tech is well equipped to prepare students to meet the challenges of generating, storing, and converting energy. Microgrid Design and Operation is one of the courses offered in the energy conservation and buildings specialty within the Master of Engineering in Energy Systems program. Two additional specialty tracks鈥攅nergy generation and sustainability, and energy transmission and markets鈥攁re taught by faculty who have set the bar in energy systems and will empower students to become the next energy pioneers.

Designing new medicinal drugs, evaluating existing drugs, or improving upon pharmaceutical manufacturing processes are just some of the activities performed by a pharmaceutical engineer. In the Master of Pharmaceutical Engineering program, students first learn the basics of pharmaceutical engineering, drug delivery, bioprocess engineering, and entrepreneurship/intellectual property management before selecting from elective courses covering topics ranging from crystal growth to cardiovascular fluid mechanics to nanoscale imaging.
