Elizabeth Friedman Speaks at National Professional Science Master鈥檚 Association Conference
Elizabeth Friedman, director of professional master鈥檚 programs and new initiatives in the College of Science, presented on a panel at the 7th Annual Conference, November 10-11 in Washington, D.C. Friedman was a founding member of the NPSMA (2005-2007) and served for six years on the board in various positions including president (2010).
Friedman鈥檚 session was titled, 鈥淒eveloping and Implementing Internships,鈥 during which she spoke about creative ways to foster internship opportunities outside of the traditional paths often used at universities. Among her list of anecdotes was how students in the Master of Health Physics program have gotten internship opportunities at companies such as the Mayo Clinic by attending and networking at annual Health Physics Society Meetings. In addition to Friedman, the panel included speakers from Rice University and University of Connecticut.
