IIT Stuart Career Kick-Off Series Prepares Recent Grads for Job Search Success
This summer, the IIT Stuart Career Management Center offered a special five-week Career Kick-Off series designed to help recent graduates with their job searches. More than 40 recent graduates participated in the workshop sessions, led by career consultant and featuring eight alumni volunteers who shared their own job search techniques.

Recent graduate Beth Baxter, who earned her M.S. in Environmental Management and Sustainability in May 2013, commented, 鈥淓ach week was more valuable than the week before, and I only wished that the classes had been longer.鈥 Baxter attended all five sessions and noted that she learned several valuable career strategies from both the alumni speakers and from Worny Janicki. 鈥淚 am already receiving more responses to my cover letters and resumes now that I am using the new information,鈥 she said.
Rui Liu, who earned her M.S. in Finance in May 2013 with concentrations in trading and risk management, also appreciated hearing from experienced alumni who could offer interview strategies for job seekers. 鈥淭here were some alumni who have been working for a long time, who actually interview new people for their companies,鈥 she said. 鈥淭hey gave out very practical interview tips.鈥
IIT Stuart鈥檚 Career Management Center hosts weekly on-site recruiting events, resume reviews, mock interviews, and information sessions during the academic year to connect IIT Stuart students with potential employers.
