Krieder Named One for the Future

Scott Krieder, a Ph.D. student working under , assistant professor of computer science, has been named as one of the winners of the Illinois Technology Foundation (ITF) 2013 "Fifty for the Future®" program.

ITF is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to fueling the technology workforce in Illinois. Their "Fifty For The Future®" program provides encouragement and recognition to students who pursue innovation through technology by providing a $1,000 scholarship and access to business leaders to showcase their talent. For the award, 50 graduate students and 10 high school students were chosen using a rigorous nomination and judging process. This year's award ceremony was November 12 at the µç³µÎÞÂë Cultural Center and was attended by industry leaders, judges, winners and their families, foundation sponsors, academics and other supporters of the technology industry.

Krieder is a research assistant in the Data-Intensive Distributed Systems Laboratory and a Guest Graduate Student at . His research concerns improving the programmability and efficiency of hardware accelerators for use in distributed systems and high-performance computing.
