Landscape Architecture Professor Nominated for Faculty Position at Chinese University
College of Architecture Professor Ron Henderson has been nominated as a distinguished visiting professor at Tsinghua University College of Architecture in Beijing, as Illinois Tech continues strengthening international bonds. Henderson will continue as a professor at Illinois Tech along with his appointment at Tsinghua.
Henderson has worked since 2005 with Tsinghua, which was founded in 1911 and is home to China鈥檚 oldest School of Architecture. Prior to joining Illinois Tech in 2015, he was a founding faculty member of Tsinghua鈥檚 Department of Landscape Architecture and is the first non-Chinese citizen full-time faculty member in the School of Architecture. He was also the founding vice chair and director of the urban design sequence for the English Program Master of Architecture, China鈥檚 first graduate architecture degree for non-Chinese citizen students.
鈥淭he appointment solidifies existing or recent research, design studio, visiting faculty and scholars, and conference collaborations,鈥 he says. 鈥淢y hope is that this honor will help in all our efforts in China with alumni, recruitment, exchanges, philanthropy, collaboration, and advancing knowledge through teaching and research.鈥
