MSED Math Scholars Presented at Research Council on Mathematics Learning Conference
Gorjana Popovic, senior lecturer, and Ph.D. students Ozgul Kartal and Susan Morrisey were selected to present 鈥淯rban Teachers鈥 Pedagogical Changes from Common Core Standards for Mathematics鈥 at the Research Council on Mathematics Learning 42nd Annual Conference 鈥淢athematics Curriculum: Paving the Road to Student Learning,鈥 February 26-28, 2015, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
IIT鈥檚 session focused on observed changes in teacher instructional practices after a year of study. The MSED team worked with math teachers from a high school network that serves economically disadvantaged students. They provided intensive professional development, classroom observations and feedback during the 2014 academic year.
Founded in 1974, the Research Council on Mathematics Learning seeks to stimulate, generate, coordinate, and disseminate research efforts designed to understand and/or influence factors that affect mathematics learning.
