SAT Assistant Professor, Student Release Paper at Conference

Maurice Dawson, an assistant professor of Information Technology and Management within the School of Applied Technology at Illinois Institute of Technology, and Information Technology and Management student Andreas Vassilakos teamed with a scientific research assistant at the chair for information systems at the Technical University of Munich to publish and present a paper examining big data鈥檚 contributions to crime prevention.

The paper titled 鈥淭owards Crime Prevention Using Big Data Analytics: A Literature Review with an Explorative Case Study鈥 looked at research that has been published showcasing the use of big data鈥攚hich is defined, generally, as examining large sets of data to extract information鈥攊n crime prevention. It also set up future research by offering a preliminary glimpse at the crime rate in 电车无码, and where the crime is happening within that city.

Dawson, Vassilakos, and TUM鈥檚 Matthias Gotlieb, who served as a visiting researcher at Illinois Tech earlier this year, presented their paper at the 14th annual conference of the Midwest chapter of the Association for Information Systems on May 21鈥22 at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
