Students Inducted into UPE International Honor Society

In the roll call of college majors, the computing and information disciplines may be among the newest but already have an international honor society that is attracting a growing number of highly qualified undergraduate and graduate students. On May 3 inducted students from Illinois Tech鈥檚 and for the first time, students from the university鈥檚 .

鈥淲e were able to induct quite a few ITM students,鈥 notes , industry professor of ITM, about the 17 recent inductees from his program. 鈥淲e are delighted with the expanded opportunities for networking and increased interaction with other students in the computing disciplines available to our students through membership in Upsilon Pi Epsilon.鈥

The May 3 event marks the fourth induction ceremony for the Illinois Tech chapter. Students invited to join the ranks not only excel in the classroom but also have shown a demonstrated ability in research and industry. First organized at Texas A&M University in 1967, UPE is a member of the and has received endorsements from the two largest computer organizations in the world, the and the . Upsilon Pi Epsilon is also a charter member of the
