Two IIT Applied Math Undergraduates Win 2012 Undergraduate Research Day Awards
Eda Gjergo and Barrett Leslie, undergraduate students in IIT's applied mathematics program, won second and third place at the . Gjergo won second place for "Optimization of Type Ia Supernovae Selection, Photometric Typing, and Cosmology Constraints." Leslie won third place for "Comprehending the Menger Sponge."
The winners will receive $150 for first place, $100 for second place, and $50 for third place. This year, four honorary prizes were added to recognize undergraduate students doing outstanding research in the areas of the four IIT Engineering Themes: Water, Health, Energy and Security.
