Rigorous training in finance and faculty mentors helped Xinting Zhen gain the knowledge and skills to launch her career as a researcher and teacher.
Xinting Zhen (Ph.D. MSC 鈥18)For Xinting Zhen, research and teaching are the twin pillars supporting success in her academic career. She credits her doctoral studies and faculty mentors at Stuart School of Business with launching her on her current path.
鈥淭he Ph.D. program in management science and analytics prepared me with rigorous training in quantitative studies, including corporate finance, statistics, econometrics, and asset pricing,鈥 Zhen says. 鈥淭he curriculum and courses helped me build comprehensive knowledge about both theoretical and empirical finance.鈥
Zhen has already compiled an impressive research record. She was selected by the editorial team of the journal Managerial Finance as a Highly Commended Award winner in the 2018 Emerald/EFMD Outstanding Doctoral Research Awards for her dissertation, titled 鈥淭hree Essays in Financial Institutions and Corporate Finance.鈥
She also has collaborated with Stuart Professor of Finance Haizhi Wang, her doctoral adviser, and other co-authors on three published papers鈥斺淏anking Deregulation and Investment-Cash Flow Sensitivity鈥 in Review of Business (forthcoming 2021), 鈥淏ank Market Power and Loan Contracts: Empirical Evidence鈥 in Economic Notes (2017) and 鈥淲hom You Borrow from Matters: Universal Banks and Firm Innovation鈥 in Managerial Finance (2019).
