Welcome to the Department of Applied Mathematics at Illinois Institute of Technology, where modern applied mathematics is developed in response to problems in science, engineering, and society.
Our department鈥檚 mission is to provide an excellent learning experience for our students. Our faculty and staff work diligently on adapting degree programs, curricula, and research programs to ensure our students are proficient in modern trends to meet current needs.
Our department鈥檚 research profile spans many interdisciplinary areas of applied mathematics. We work on theoretical, methodological, computational, and applied problems that are relevant to many application areas including various branches of engineering, biological sciences, management sciences, physics, social sciences, and the financial industry. Our faculty鈥檚 research has been continuously supported by grants and contracts from various federal agencies and industries. Unlike most universities, our undergraduate students are actively involved in research projects side鈥揵y鈥搒ide with our graduate students and postdoctoral associates.
The diverse degree programs we offer help students gain analytical and problem-solving skills, preparing them for various career paths in industry and academia.
