The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has implemented a one-time SEVIS Fee for all F-1 and J-1 visa applicants.
Fee Schedule

The fee must be received by DHS at least three business days prior to applying for your visa or applying for admission to the U.S. at a port-of-entry for those who are exempt from the visa requirement (primarily Canadians).
How Is the Fee Paid?
The fee must be paid to DHS by mail or via the internet. It can be paid by you or a third party, inside or outside of the U.S. For detailed payment instructions and to pay the fee online using a credit card, visit .
How Do You Prove that You Paid the SEVIS Fee?
