Industrial Technology and Management (INTM) program students learn to develop innovative solutions to operational challenges in an interactive environment that focuses on practical application of classroom concepts. The INTM curriculum offers two types of student projects: independent studies and Interprofessional Projects (IPRO) Program. All projects are guided by faculty with considerable industrial experience, and are designed as applied-learning experiences that help students build connections with companies and develop the analytical and problem-solving skills required for careers in industry.
INTM encourages students to complete projects in partnership with companies, nonprofit organizations, and professional societies in several ways:
- Individual research studies on topics related to operations, process improvements, entrepreneurship, economic impacts, and industry trends
- IPROs in which groups of students troubleshoot an operational issue identified by private industry
- Part-time or full-time internships
Student projects that demonstrate particular merit and innovation may be chosen for publication. INTM Industry Professor Gurram Gopal works with students to publish relevant projects in industrial trade journals.

Elevate is the umbrella organization at Illinois Tech that connects students with experiential opportunities that allow them to learn the valuable skills that will enable their upward trajectory. These opportunities include on- and off-campus research, internships and co-ops, study away, and additional opportunities such as short courses and competitions to further round out your education.
