Jamshid Mohammadi

Jamshid Mohammadi was appointed as interim provost on January 14, 2025. He replaces Kenneth T. Christensen, who departed for a new role at the University of Colorado Denver.   

Mohammdi has served the university for more than 40 years as a respected faculty member, a vice provost, and dean of the graduate school. He launched his career at Illinois Tech in 1979 as an assistant professor of civil engineering, eventually becoming chair of the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering for 14 years. He was later appointed dean of the graduate school and vice provost for gradate academic affairs in 2019, and, more recently, vice provost for faculty affairs. Mohammadi is also an accomplished scholar who has more than 150 academic publications and is an expert in structural engineering and building design.
